Durak is the son of Go'el (Thrall) and Aggralan (Aggra), and the older brother of Rehze. He has a frost wolf companion named Winter. As the son of two powerful orcish shaman, Durak is widely expected to follow in his parents' footsteps, though the youth himself is not certain if this is the path he wants for himself.[1]
Biography[]
Childhood[]
Alexstrasza herself announced that Aggralan was pregnant with her and Thrall's first child moments after Deathwing's defeat at the end of the Cataclysm.[2]
Following Durak's birth, his parents moved with him to the Den in the Valley of Trials.[3] During the Darkspear Rebellion, Thrall went to infiltrate Orgrimmar on his own and asked Vol'jin to take care of his mate and son should something happen to him.[4]
Go'el and Aggra (who at this point was pregnant again, this time with Rehze) brought the infant Durak with them to the Temple of the White Tiger for the trial of Garrosh Hellscream.[5] Having lost his own father when he was an infant, Go'el was determined to be actively involved in Durak's rearing.[6] During a break in the trial, he took his sleeping son on a ride on Snowsong to One Keg.[7]
During the war in Draenor, Aggra initially stayed on Azeroth to care for Durak and the newborn Rehze,[8] but she later joined her life-mate on Draenor.[9] At the start of the invasion of the Burning Legion, just after the Battle for Broken Shore, Durak was briefly seen in Dalaran with his parents.[10] After the invasion, Thrall and his family retired to a farm near Oshu'gun in Nagrand.[11] Durak and Rehze often played in the pools near the farm, and Aggra taught both of them to weave.[12] Thrall told Durak many stories about the heroic deeds of adventurers.[13] When Thrall returned to Azeroth to join the Horde Council at the end of the Fourth War, his family stayed in Nagrand.[12]
Dragonflight[]
Years later, Durak and his family were among the guests at Lor'themar Theron and First Arcanist Thalyssra's wedding at the Lunastre Estate in Suramar. Wrathion noted that the youngsters seemed to be well behaved.[14]

As Durak approached the age for the om'riggor rite of passage, his parents brought him and Rehze to Alterac Valley to introduce them to Drek'Thar and the rest of the Frostwolf clan, as well as take the opportunity to discuss the boy's future.[13] Durak was widely expected to become a shaman like both of his legendary parents, but he himself wasn't certain if this was what he wanted.[1] Meanwhile, Eitrigg and an orc adventurer came to Drek'Thar to discuss bringing back the Kosh'harg festival. Aggra suggested the simultaneous introduction of a new rite, the om'gora, to replace the om'riggor. The adventurer completed a combat challenge to prove themselves worthy of being the first to complete the rite, after which Drek'Thar appointed Aggra as the one who would preside over both the Kosh'harg and the om'gora. While Thrall and Eitrigg went to gather the clans, Durak, his family, and the adventurer returned to the Broken Tusk in Orgrimmar to prepare the om'gora.[13]
Aggra left to prepare the rite while the adventurer flew with Durak and Rehze to Razor Hill, where the Kosh'harg would be held, on the family's wyverns. Durak confided his doubts about his future to the adventurer, as well as his hope that watching them complete the om'gora would help him decide his own path. On arrival, Durak stayed with Rehze while the adventurer went to begin the om'gora.[1] Durak asked to accompany the hero on one of the rite's portions, the Blessing of the Ancestors, which required cooking a feast for the spirits.[15] He helped them gather ingredients from around Razor Hill[16] and then place the feast outside Razor Hill. This caused the spirits of Varok Saurfang and other famous orcs to briefly appear and give the adventurer their blessing. Before disappearing, Varok also spoke to the disbelieving Durak personally, assuring him that he'd find his path in time and that it would lead him to greatness.[17]
After the adventurer completed the om'gora, the Kosh'harg concluded with a feast in their honor. Durak told the hero that they'd done great with the rite and thanked them for alleviating his worries and showing him what would be required of him once he was old enough to undergo it himself[18] a few years later.[19]

- Durak made his first appearance in [15-35] Find Thrall!, added in patch 5.1 (November 2012). His name was first revealed in the Ultimate Visual Guide, released the following year.[20]
- Durak's name is meant to be a combination of the names of his paternal grandparents, Durotan and Draka.[21]
- Durak and all other characters of that name were renamed to "Duran" (Дуран) in the Russian localization of World of Warcraft, as the word durak means "idiot" in Russian.
- Durak is depicted with green skin during his first appearance as an infant in 5.1, but brown skin in all subsequent appearances.
- As a youth, Durak has the model of a normal Mag'har orc, with the exception of one unique feature not available to Mag'har player characters: like his father, Durak has blue eyes.
- As of Dragonflight, Durak is 10 or 11 years old, just shy of adulthood.
- While accompanying players in [50-70] The Blessing of the Ancestors through [50-70] A Worthy Offering, Durak rides Winter as his ground mount and the Grand Wind Rider as his flying mount.
